| What do you guys think about making it possible to open an .otd document online, such as in a java applet. Frequently i have to deal with computers that only have Word on them at school. What a relief it would be not to rely on the .doc format. I sincerely apologize if this has been discussed before. |

A possible work around is to have a copy of John Haller's Portable OpenOffice.org on a USB stick or a CD. Not as convenient but it may help

If you only have to view your document you can save it using OOo writer HTML format, it gives good result on web browsers.
But if you want to be able to modify your doc I don't see how you can do without OOo (or having a version of your doc saved in Word format). |

Writely, the web word processor, now supports both ODT and SXW. It's definitely worth a look:a good word processor that you can access from everywhere.

Here is another OpenOffice.org/OpenDocument viewer. This one works offline, and you can probably install it to some portable media such as a USB disk.
