You could probably find the answer through OpenOffice.org's help. When in OOo, just press F1 to bring up the help. It will let you search too.
In Calc there are at least two ways to sort:
1. Through sort button on toolbar
2. Through menu: Data->Sort |

That's what I was trying to do from the tutorials.
First- the Sort button does not light up when I highlight the cells I want to sort
Second- Data-Sort-OK does nothing either.
I have to use OO 1.1 and that is the tutorial I was using. |

That's an awfully old version. I have never used anything lower than 1.9.113 so I' m afraid Icannot help. It is strange. I just did your sort with 2.0.0 with no problem. What version does the tutorial refer to? If it is 1.4 or something it may be using something that was not in 1.1 _________________ jrkrideau

I did get it to work in Writer after restarting computer.
The company has version 1.1.4 and upgrading is out of the question.
I have both versions on home computer but still use 1.1.4 for stuff from work.
I know 2.0 will save it to 1.1 format but, by actually using the 1.1 version I know it will also work at work.
I still cannot get either version to sort in Calc but not worried about it.
Thank you for responses. |

It sounds like you have something seriously wrong with those installations. Both Write and Calc sort just fine in 2.0 and I have difficulty imagining that Calc in an 1.x version would not sort. _________________ jrkrideau
