|
|
As I write a lot of concepts it looked a very nice feature that I can protect record of changes with a password so that someone else cannot turn off recording of changes.
But I found out that there is a big bad bug in it but unfortunately did not find any information about that in the forum or on the web that describes that particular problem:
The password that prevents from turning off record of changes can be easily disabled.
Steps to reproduce:
- I go to "Edit->Changes->Record" => Check it
- "Edit->Changes->Protect Records" then I can set a password.
- When a password is set then I go back to "Edit->Changes->Record"
- Password dialog appears
- I press cancel and what happens: Changes are not marked any more.

Oh no, such a serious malfunction - and I am sure it would be easy to fix.... _________________ Greetings, Martin Wildam. |

I tried now on several machines with also different languages of OpenOffice hoping that probably not a general problem (who knows). But unfortunately behaviour is exactly the same. - I was about to switch to OpenOffice... _________________ Greetings, Martin Wildam. |

Even if there is nobody who can help me - is there someone at least experiencing the same issue? _________________ Greetings, Martin Wildam. |

I seem to get the same thing when I try it. I didn't even realise it existed. I'm not sure if we have a bug or the instructions in help are so short that it is difficult to figure out what it is suppose to do. _________________ jrkrideau

In my very humble opinion it must be a bug I cannot imagine that such behaviour is working "as designed"! _________________ Greetings, Martin Wildam. |

It is very strange - I cannot reproduce the problem any more after playing around with options and styles.
I tried to undo some changes in options but cannot find the option that caused this to work now. I will do a test with reinstall of OO on a clear machine. My current machine had also an older version of OpenOffice on it before. _________________ Greetings, Martin Wildam. |

Retried this on another machine and now and it seems to be working as we might expect. I suspect it was interference from sunspots _________________ jrkrideau
