if I'm wanting to learn a bit more about programming ( I know a little - I know more about ActionScripts to be honest ) what do you suggest? Are there any online tutorials you'd recommend? I understand the thinking behind the language - but not a lot about the structure and the actual commands. It all looks so similar: VB, Actionscript, Java etc.... what would you go for? SQL is separate - is that right? - a language in it's own right?

I like Actionscript as it brings to life my webpages etc.. but I would like to be able to adapt software like OpenOffice as it is something i use everyday. What is OpenOffice Basic based on?

I feel I'm at a crossroads and could do with some guidance!
