Saving a document as RTF does not include graphics

When I import a document with some graphics referenced in the RTF through INCLUDEPICTURE (so not embedded graphics) then these graphics are lost when I save
the file as RTF again. Any ideas why? Bug or feature?

Sounds like a bug. First, you should try the latest OpenOffice.org version 2.0.1. If the problem persists, you should review open issues, so here is a list of open issues of type defect with "rtf" in summary. If you do not see your issue reported, please report with a sample document or procedure to http://qa.openoffice.org/servlets/ProjectIssues

This issue has been reported long time ago. The bottom line is that the OOo developpers just stick to the basic specifications of the RTF format, and will not consider including the extensions such as support for embedded graphics. So indeed, RTF support in OOo is basic.
