|
|
| I do volunteer work with an Animal Adoption group that is just starting out. I am trying to put together a database of our voluteers, foster families, adopters, and donors. We have very limited resources, so I am looking for a template for OOo Base that is a contact management DB. I can alter the actual DB, but this is something I think we need a jump start on rather than building from scratch. Please let me know if there is anything out there. Thanks! |

Could you not create a database in base and then work from that.
I am making a base database to manage users, computers and office equipment here at work. i found there is only the default template that you can use is the one that is in the installer |

| I am not a computer-guy, so I am going through documentation to teach myself how to build a db through OOo. I built some Access things back in my undergraduate, but I haven't done that for a while. I am really just looking for a template that I could modify so that we could keep track of the people who adopt dogs/cats, donors, and volunteers. We are a foster family group and are looking at extending that out to the people who we work with. I noticed that their is the generic template, but I am still trying to wrap my head around the program as a whole. |

What do you mean by the default templaste?
I wonder if you have looked at ShelterManager?
http://sheltermanager.sourceforge.net/
It is more for full blown shelters, but you might get some good ideas - the database is MySQL, but it integrates with OpenOffice for document production apparaently. _________________ Blog - http://baseanswers.spaces.live.com/ |

Please have a look at http://tuxmagazine.org/
Register for free and download the Feb Issue.
There is a good and basic article on how to get started with Base.
Hope that helps.
