Last nite I saved a Doc. but when I went to open it today, I received a Not Responding

Never heard of that message. Which OOo version and which operating system are you using?
With kind regards

I'm using 1.1.4 with Windows XP Pro. When I click on the Doc. to open it, it comes up in a gray blank screen, and after a while at the top bar of the screen is says Not Responding.
Can you help? AJR |

Have you tried opening the doc from inside the OOo module you used - for example, Writer?
Even before moving to OOo, Windows 2000 and XP both were going flaky for me when trying to open files by double-clicking them (or highlighting in Explorer and hitting Enter).
I never pursued why, just assumed it was some Windows hiccup, and got into the habit of opening files from within the application rather than from Exporer or Recent Documents.
Of course, that said, there might be some problem being generated by OOo... ain't computers fun... _________________ Dave |

Yes, I always open my documents from the program used to create them.
I know that there is something in that file, for it shows a 10KB size.
I can open it in Wordpad, but it's all gobilly gook. There must be some way to translate all that stuff into something readable. Is there? AJR |

Sometimes setting "Read only" in the Open dialog box fixes hanging on loading. If it does, save the file under a new name and you shouldl have a valid read/write file. |
