This file crashes my OO2 upon open. Anyone know why? I got it from a corporate recruiter who says it was created in Word.
In all the time I've been using OO2 (on Kanotix/Debian Linux), this is the first .doc file that I've not been able to open. It is not important that I read the file, I'm just curious.
Thanks,

| I was able to open it in 00 2.0, TextEdit and AppleWorks in Mac OSX. It has all sorts of embedded objects, tables and drop down boxes. No program opened the document well and it looks quite different in each program. |

I just opened it in OOo 2.0.1 with no probems that I can see. It is a nicely elaborate form and the various text fields seem to work okay. _________________ jrkrideau

Opened in MS Word 2003 fine, opened in OO.o 2.0.1 fine. Did not see any major differences, didn't look at it extensively though. _________________ Ron from Iowa, USA |

I get a KDE error handler screen saying that soffice.bin crashed.
I've tried both clicking on the icon as well as opening it from within OO2. The file starts to load, I see the progress bar, and then it just closes down.
Anyone running Linux with KDE able to open this puppy?

No problems here with Kanotix (based on Debian Linux), KDE 3.5.1 and OpenOffice.org 2.0.1-2. No problems with Win XP and OOo 2.0.1 either.
With kind regards

Hmm, I have exact same system. I wonder why it is crashing for me. Are you using the Sun Java vm 1.4.2_10 ? You can find out in Tools, Options, Java
Thanks,

No, I'm using 1.4.2_8. And it's no problem with 1.5.0_05 either.
With kind regards

hmmm. So anyone have any idea why soffice.bin takes a dive on me on this file? Very strange. I've got a Debian Etch partition with OO2 so maybe I'll try it there and see what happens.

I can open this file with my Debian Etch (testing) partition, but not in Kanotix. Both have save version of OO2 and KDE.
What is going on? Any ideas?

I reinstalled OO2 and the document opens. Go figure.
