Using 2.0.2 rc 2 on Win XP

The default tab spacing on an english installation using a ruler set to inches is 0.49". If I change the default tabs to 0.50", they show up slightly misplaced on the ruler, gaining a bit with each subsequent tab instead of being placed correctly at each half inch mark.

This is annoying, I know. There are actually two issues here.

First, the screen display is sometimes misleading as to the actual tab position. Change zoom levels and watch the default tab symbols jump around.

The other issue is that if you want the final tab of tabs set at .5" to align with the right margin, you must set both the left and right margins such that the width of the central portion of the page is divisible by .5" with no remainder. For standard lettersize paper, and wanting even margins, this means values of .25, .5, .75, 1, 1.25, 1.5 and so forth.

Press F11 to bring up the Stylelist, select the fourth icon in the Stylelist toolbar, and then click on each page style in the list, right-click, select "Modify", and set the margins appropriately, say 1 inch on both sides. (Of course you will leave the Envelope style page margins alone.) You need to save these changes into your default template to have them automatically appear in new documents.
