In Microsoft Access's table design view, you can use field properties like input mask, validation rule, and lookups.

In Base, are these features available only through forms?

Thanks,

The short answer is yes, in Base you do these things in Forms.

Remembering that Base is just a front end to a database source it does not try to duplicate what you can already due in those database engines.

Validation rules are usually offered, input masks not so and that would be a great RFE for Base I think.

Lookups, as implemented in MS Access, is not something you will find anywhere else - least not often ( I think the old RBase systems used to do this )
