I need to do some isometric drawing. Is there a way to do this using Draw?
Thanks |

There's no isometric grid in Draw, and I don't see any way to 'fake it' with a simple rectangular grid. I have tried to do some isometric figures using lines rotated to 30° or 60° as guides. That helps, but it's still a very tedious process.
It would be a nice enhancement though.
Maybe someone has a clever workaround |

Well, I hope it will be implemented someday. I know it would be usefull to me.
But if it is not possible, is there a way to do polyline drawing by entering coordinates instead of using the mouse?
Anyway, thanks for confiming this to me. |

Not that I know of—short of ripping open the .odg file and editing the XML
I did read an article recently on how to make a custom "smart" shape; lemme see ... odd, I can't find it now.
You can draw a line of exact length and rotation angle by entering those values in the "Position and Size" dialog. That can be used as a guide for drawing polygons, since you can turn on "snap to object points" (something like that) and snap the polygon vertices to the endpoints of the line. You can also set an exact position, but you might as well use the grid for that.
I never found a way to construct a polygon from individual lines; Draw seemed to always convert the lines to Bezier curves (Grr).
Basically, it's possible but tedious. |

It look nice, but it is overkill for what I need to use it for. Also it runs on windows only :
The reason I needed iso drawing was just to draw trellis for a decomposition of a module in a math homework I had to do. What I needed to draw was some sort of a 3 dimentional transparent box (with no perspective) slanted in a perticular way (like in an iso drawing paper). It would have been really easy on an isometric grid but it was VERY tedious with the square coordinates. |
