Hi all,
When copying text from a web-page into a Writer document, it always ends up within a frame/table.Until now I did not find a way to avoid this.
Can someone please help me out on this?
winXP - msie & mozilla 1.4 - OOo 1.1.0
regards

| It appears that if I copy text, I get text. If I copy text in a table, I get text in a table. If you have text in a table and want just plain text, try Edit > Paste Special > Unformated Text. |

John,
Thanks for pointing me to the Edit > Paste Special > Unformated Text command, I didnŽt notice it before
To keep the style and lay-out of the selected text, IŽll have to paste it as RTF. Then it works perfectly.
The only thing that still disturbs me (discussed by others in another topic) is when I copy and paste a table that exceeds one page.
thanks and regards,

I'd like to try something. Would you point me to a web page with such a table? |

Click into the table then right click, choose Table and the Table tab. Alignment is set on the right.
This table is less than a page. Now I'm going to get the other one. |

John,
The link should direct you to the annexes on that page, but it seems that (my) Mozilla does not accept this link as it opens at the top of the page.
The table in the annex of chapter 5 did give the problem as described

The problem with OO and the long table is that one or more of its ROWS are longer than the length of your paper. In OO you can't split a row across pages.
If you just need to see (not print) what's in this go the the top, insert your cursor in the page instead of the table and then Format > Page > Page tab to a length of 22 inches.
If your desparate to print this then highlight the entire table and set the font size to 8. If you reduce the top and bottom page margins to 1/2 or 1/4 inches you can probably use a larger font size. |

Another option, is to insert a new row below the cell that exceeds the page-length. Then copy (ctrl+X and ctrl+C) the 'invisible' parts of the cell to the new row/cell until the 'bottom' of the cell becomes visible.
It involves a bit of extra work, but until now I did not find a better way to do this.

When I 'used' to use Word, I could import a web page and then use the Script Editor to remove the <table......> entries.
This removed the tables, but left the pictures, graphics, etc.
How can I do this in OO?

YaHoo, found the answer. Loaded the web page as a HTML document and then edited it with the Tools, Text <-> table menu selection. _________________ Bob from Shalimar, Fl. |

OO 2.4.1
Win XP SP2
It works for displaying images in Firefox3 but using IE7 does not download the images - only leaves frames with broken links. |
