Here's the problem. I want to create an Impress slide, where the text comes in one letter at a time, as if someone was typing it. (Background: a play with someone at a keyboard.)
Taking a look around the program, it appears I want a custom entrance animation, but the right animation does not exist. The Emphasis:Color Over By Letter animation is close when setting the initial color to the background, and the emphasis color to contrasting, but the text disappears after a second.
I've seen this effect in Powerpoint, but not in Impress. |

| The typewriter animation effect exist on OpenOffice (at least +v2.4) with any effect. Just after choosing the effect, right-clic mouse > Effect Options > "Effect" tab > On "Text animation" change "All at once" to "Letter by letter" (or "Word by word" if you want). Then you can set the delay between characters. |
