| How do I set hanging indents in numbered and bulleted lists so that the text wraps to tbe beginning of the text rather than 1) to the number/bullet or 2) too far to the right (past the beginning of the text) |

How are you creating the list? What OOo version?
For me, using 2.0.2, what your desired result ("... the text wraps to tbe beginning of the text") is the default 'shape' of the list items, and I have to work to change it. |

I created my own "numbering/list" style. I set the indent to -0.25" and the indent to text at 0.25". This means that every number or bullet is left. When the text wraps it will line up with the rest of the text. _________________ --

My settings on Format > Bullets & Numbering > Postion tab are:
Indent: 0.25"
Spacing to text: 0.25"
Minimum space numbering: 0.00"
Numbering alignment: Left
version: OOo 2.0.3 |

| I already have my styles formatted as you suggest. When the text extends to the second line in that style, it still wraps too far to the right. |

This can be caused by having a first line indent set for the paragraph. Right click on the paragraph and select Paragraph. Check the first line indent on the Indents and Spacing tab. It has to be "0". |
