Yes there is. There's another thread here some where, do a search for microsoft works. Alternatively, try
wp6rtf.exe
which converts works to rtf which can be imported into OpenOffice.

Get StarOffice 7 for free, that includes several import filters not available in OpenOffice:

StarOffice 7 = OpenOffice 1.1.0 !!!

If you need to convert WordPerfect and Works docs I recommend using StarOffice until all the filters for OpenOffice are up and running, or just keeping a copy of it for converting files.

I will be quicker if it happens again Wink

Ouch... bad news. Paying for StarOffice is a good idea, anyway, if you are going to use the WP/Works filters on a regular basis. I think StarOffice is available for free, almost, for students/teachers etc.

Document converter is an excellent Macro / Utility, however it's designed to convert

I don't think Microsoft Works is supported in OOo - but I might be wrong, it's heppened before Wink

As the author of "Document Converter" I can tell you that it doesn't even live up to the claim (descriptive text I wrote) to handle "any format supported by OOo". Embarassed It handles the formats I've bothered to add.

Changing topic, it would be cool to figure out how to...
1. enumerate a list of all of the filters in OOo
2. determine which are import and which are export (or both)
3. determine which formats the filters support
4. dynamically alter the User Interface to offer every possible choice of conversion, based upon the currently installed filters in OOo.

I know two ways to do step 1. (FilterFactory, or using Configuration Manager.) But that's it. How to do step 3? Probably via. data in the Configuration Manager? Or get the concrete service name from ConfigMgr and instantiate that service and then inspect it for supported import/export types? Anyway, just another idea on my long and growing list of ideas.
