|
|
I'm having a problem since installing the latest version of OOo. It used to be that I could type in, say, July 19... and it would automatically give me July 19, 2006(whatever format I set it to) for the date. However, now if I type in July 19 it gives me July 1, 2019.
Does anyone know how to fix this? |

Date input formats are taken from your locale setting. It looks like yours is currently using the British format (ie. real dates )
Tools > Options
Expand Language Settings and select Languages
Set Locale Setting to English(USA) (or other locale with desired date format, spelling, currency etc)
Check the For the current document only box (or not)

Hi Rudagar,
I've just done some tinkering and found that
Format > Cells
Select Number tab
Language setting also has an affect.
If I leave the (number) language as default and type July 19 I get 1 July 2019 (my default is English Aust)
If I set the (number) languge to English USA and type July 19 I get 19 July 2006.
As well as your locale, you probably also need to set
Tools > Options > Languages > Default Languages for documents
to English US or similar.
After setting your locale and default language, you might need to restart OOo and check in a new spreadsheet (the existing spreadsheets might retain their exisiting language settings).
If this does not help I have no clue. Post your OOo version and OS and hope that someone more knowledgeable is reading...

I also found that you can define things to your liking by going to Format->Cells...-->chose the Numbers tab-->pick a Category-->and in the Format menu, chose something other than the default, or go to the bottom and define as you like in the Format code field (when you modify, "User-defined" shows up underneath. i.e. I don't like zeros in front of my month, so I changed it to M/DD/YYYY and it got rid of that ). |
