Just out of idle curiosity, how long does the mirror process take?

Judging by the file dates, rc3 is being released as 2.0.4. Anyone know for sure?

If so, I guess I'll stick with 2.0.2. There's nothing I need in 2.0.4, and still things that work in 2.0.2 but not in 2.0.4rc3 that I won't do without. I know the devs are swamped and I'm sure there's pressure to make a release, which can never be perfect, but it still bothers me when things are reported and never even responded to.

It looks like the official announcement that 2.0.4 is out will come either Thursday or Friday (I guess Friday is the 6th anniversary of OOo first releasing).

Usually within a period of 12 hours, from what I have experienced with each release.

The file version for soffice.exe is: 1.9.9069.500
That is the easiest way I know how to determine it, by right-clicking on the soffice.exe file and checking the version that way. I hope that will help answer your question.

I should point out that, already, I have noticed that this version is quite "snappier" then 2.0.3 when it comes to startup and switching between several documents, spreadsheets, etc.

I have always modified my dictionary.lst file to include only 1 language for dictionary, thes., and hyph. and this has always made it even faster on my machine. No need for all the extra dictionaries and stuff loaded into it by default.

EDIT: I find it odd that Check for Updates is disabled by default...

Oh, you have got to be kidding me. There's yet another version number for OOo? Between all the different releases/builds/workspaces and other numbering schemes, I'm not sure anyone knows what they have, or worse, what they're releasing.
Anyway, what good does that do for non-Windows people?
For 2.0.4rc3, the Help > About ... Ctrl+S-D-T screen says: 680m5(Build: 9073)

It is the same, 680m5(Build: 9073). I was unaware (or forgot) of that method of obtaining the build number, so thank you for that.

EDIT: I would absolutely love to be running Linux still. However, the new motherboard that I bought a few weeks ago does not work properly with Linux. Some sort of bug that has to do with determining the AGP aperture size, always doing 32MB regardless of what is actually chosen in the BIOS. It's a damn shame that I am stuck with Windows...

There was a very long conversion about this on the releases mailing list. The feature wasn't completely QA'd from what I understand and it currently doesn't do everything that it should do.

Out of curiousity, what sort of things? I'd have assumed subsequent releases would have a little bit more, not a little bit less.
