Hi,

Am new to OOoWriter and wonder if it is possible to move the position of the page on the screen? In MSWord the page is bang in the centre, but on OOo it's positioned to the left (in 100% view). Is there any way that I can put the page in the middle of the screen?

Please help,

Steve

Quick answer... no. OpenOffice.org does not offer that ability. Personally, I get around it by resizing my OOo window to just a little bit wider than the page, but that is just me.

OOo has a lot of menu windows that can be opened up (particularly the styles window) that many people like to keep open, and the blank space to the right of the page is a good place to keep those, where they are always visible but out of the way. I'm not sure if that is the reasoning behind not having a centering feature, or if that is just a "hey, I have this space, might as well use it".

Oh well, never mind as they say.

Will try to 'use the space' and see how I get on.
Am v. keen to move away from MSW so will stick with the OOo.

Am amazed at the speed of the reply too, so many many thanks.
The open-source community does itself proud - am v. impressed!

Zoom Optimal, and dock the palettes on the right.

I've been publishing books on PCs since 1988, so one accumulates a lot of work in that length of time. I've only finished one book in Open Office so far — The Dhammapada. I'm currently working intermittently on another long book.

I find visiting a forum like this is the best way to learn a new program thoroughly.

Am getting to know it a bit now. Takes getting used to - but definitely worth it.

Many thanks again!
