I had OOo 2.0.3 installed before without any problems. When 2.0.4 was released I uninstalled the previous 2.0.3 version and tried to install 2.0.4. That failed with this error message:
Error 1935. An error occured during the installation of assembly
'policy.1.1.cli_types,publicKeyToken="ce2cb7e279207b9e",version="7.0.0.0",culture="neutral"
Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRE...
Now I get this error message every time I try to install any version of OOo. Even the old 2.0.3 now fails.
I am running WindowXP, SP2 on a P4 2.4GHz machine.
Does anybody know what is going wrong here? |

This is a fairly common error with the Micorsft Installer rather than a specific issue to OOo. Search for the issue on Google and you'll find a lot of MS links with possible solutions.

Thanks! That finally worked.
It's really great that even the MS knowledge base gives help to workarounds this problem, but the problem itself remains...  |

For what it's worth, I had to uninstall .NET 1.x to get OpenOffice to install. I haven't tried with .NET 2x
Hope this helps someone else... |

I have used OO for several years and have 2.0.2 installed on one XP Home computer. I now have another XP Media computer and tried to load 2.0.4, it failed, as did 2.0.2.
Reading this thread it seems all I need to do to correct this problem is the uninstall [.NET].
My question is: does the advice say in effect uninstall *.NET, are there several NETs? Does it need to be reinstalled after installation of OO? Or, does it have no use on my new XP Media application?
