At present, to print current page, we have to either select the text of current page and then give command to print the selection or give page no. of the current page.

Do we have a command or tool to add the command to print only the current page in writer. (similar to one in MS Word)

I have replaced the Print File directly icon in the toolbar by the simple Print button. This way, it opens the Print dialog. In the Print range area, if you check the Pages option (instead of All), the field is already configured with the page where the cursor is located. It should suit your need.

Thanks to add '[Solved]' in your first post title (edit button) if it's ok.

I did state about this solution in my thread. However, I am interested in knowing whether we have a command or tool to add the command to print only the current page in writer. (similar to ALT+E in MS Word which works quicker for printing only current page rather than entering page no. of the current page ).

I still don't undserstand since you don't have to enter any page number, it's already done automatically by OOo.

I haven't seen such a command but it should be easy to do with a macro. See in the Macro section of this forum.

Sure page number is not required to be entered. Nothing wrong with OOo, the purpose is served by just clicking Pring>page.
However, ALT+E does not function. This is just a small matter while migrating from MS Word and trying to know if similar tool exists.
I have no knowledge of Macro.

Have you searched the forum ? Evil or Very Mad
The answer is here : printing current page of document only.

Thanks to add '[Solved]' in your first post title (edit button) if it's ok.

Thanks Hagar. I have seen the referred thread on the forum but I do not know anything about Macros. I would try to learn it.

Is it possible to Cntrl+P and assign Alt+E for printing current page; and then insering this option in Print menu.

Of course. Menu Tools>Customize. Then, in the Keyboard tab, you can assign or reassign shortcuts to whatever command you want, including macros (in the Functions area, see the category OpenOffice.org Macros when you have pasted the macro in a new module). Same for the menus, in the Menus tab.

I've updated the thread Hagar referenced above to provide the complete code, and actually make a small, but important, correction.

If you don't know how to put macros found here to work see:
