Excuse me for being ignorant if the solution is easy.
I want to turn a large file full of this --

By adding a literal double-space between the paragraphs. In Microsoft Word it was a Find-and-Replace: Find "^p" and Replace w/ "^p^p".
However since switching, I can't seem to find the equivalent wild card in OOo. I'm using Linux, so simply opening Word to do it and closing out is not a viable option.
If there is no equivalent wild card, then is there another way to achieve the desired affect?

Easy but not obvious. In fact it's so not obvious that it get's asked here at least once a week. 
Here's the last time it was answered: inserting extra paragraph etc with find/replace.

Heh, I feel a bit dumb now. I looked over the documentation and over the list of wild cards and couldn't find something that might work. I guess I overlooked the $ in conjunction with \n\n.
I was surprised how easy this was to do when I tried copying & pasting it over to a basic plaintext editor...but then I lost all of my formatting.

Or, try applying the "Text body" style to your text. This style has the paragraph spacing pre-set to a sensible value. This way, there's no need to insert "empty" paragraphs between all your existings ones.
Formtting your paragraphs with Styles allows much finer control over things. There is no reason to restrict the spacing between paragraphs to be single lines. Paragraph spacing is a property of the paragraph style. |
