I have a java application that connects to open office (via sockets).
When OpenOffice is run in "headless" mode and a HTML document is submitted for coversion to a StarWriter XML document (aka OpenOffice.org 1.0 Text Document) OpenOffice crashes. However before it crashes it manages to convert some of the document. The images in the document are not corrupted and display happily in GIMP, Paint, Internet Explorer, Firefox, MS Word etc.
In constrast if I open the HTML document (with OpenOffice) export it as a OpenOffice.org 1.0 Text Document and then open the exported document I can then save it as a Word document etc but the word document doesn't always work (nice touch really).
So the two questions are what am I doing wrong? And can OpenOffice be used to convert HTML doucments to OpenOffice, Word, RTF etc... in headless mode (e.g. sitting happily next to Apache).
Thank you,
