How do you permanently set the margins? I hate having to readjust the margin every time.

Open an empty new document. Do all the changes you want. Save it as template. Go to File-template-organize. Double Click on My template, Select the newly created template, right click and set it as the default template. Next time when you open a new document, it should contain the margin you want.
