| I have intalled the latest version of OpenOffice for OS X, however I can't enter Japanese text. I have tried changing the language settings (in OO) but to no avail. Any suggestions? |

Yes. All other applications work fine. In fact, the machine was purchased in Japan.
When I try to switch the keyboard to "kana" mode by pressing the corresponding button immediately to the right of the space bar (not the apple button), a space is inserted in the document. Also, in the language settings and font menu, none of the Japanese characters are displayed. Instead, I see a simple square box where the character should be. |

What font have you selected in OpenOffice? Make sure it is one that contains Japanese characters |

It seems that OO running under x11 cannot access the Japanese fonts.
I'll continue using NeoOffice until an Aqua version of OpenOffice appears.
Thanks for your time. |
