|
|
i have created a document in Writer which has lines of text and a couple of rectangular boxes into which i have inserted a text box with text (to indicate what should be written in the rect. box). i'm making a form. Then i saved it and reopened it to use as the basis for another form.
This time i didn't need rounded rectanagular boxes with the text boxes inside so i deleted the rect. boxes and then went on to delete the text boxes with their text, but lo and behold! i can't select them! They just appear as text, i can't click on them to delete them. i've looked all over and can't find anything like this. It's like they were acting as a watermark or something.
Any ideas? Have a great afternoon! _________________ Now using 3.2.1 on 4 PCLinuxOS 2010 boxes (two are laptops).

| Try using the "Select" tool on the Drawing toolbar (the arrow/pointer shaped icon at the left end of the toolbar). Use it to drag out a "rubber band" around the region where the text boxes are. Any object(s) within the rubber-band rectangle should now be selected. |

Thanks! Was beginning to think no one had seen this before. Tried your suggestion and now my mouse at least "changes" when placed over the text, but... nothing. The ellipse that i can form with the selector arrow disappears when i stop holding down the mouse button.
Tried using the Navigator, but it doesn't detect anything other than the two jpegs i've got on the doc.
Have a great evening! |

| Can you post the doc somewhere? It would be easier to solve the problem if we could work directly with the actuall document. Uploadhut.com or mytempdir.com are two free hosting sites. |

Cool! That was fast! Didn't even have to register!

The words "Diagnostic", "Fecha en que debe realizarse el estudio.", and "Folio Progresivo" are the problem items...
Have a great evening!
Later... i don't know if the document is supposed to look like gibberish on a webpage, but i uploaded to another site, mytempdir.com, as well... http://www.mytempdir.com/1289363 -- i tried this one and it appears to work better. It offers to download the file properly. |

Let me guess--this was converted from a MS Word document, right?
Those items are actually form controls and can only be selected or modified in Writer's "Form Design" mode. This is rather strange, since these are the only form components on the page, and they are merely labels: there are no actual data components on the page.
Anyway, you can select them and move or edit them only after you enter form design mode:
1. View > Toolbars > Form Controls = CHECK.
2. Click the "Design Mode On/Off" button (a pointing hand/finger)
3. Click the "Select" tool (arrow pointer just to the left)
4. Click on the items in the page, they should be selected.
It looks like this for me:

Outstanding! You get a big 10 for this one! Worked like a charm.
