|
|
I, too cannot get 2.2 to install, get the following: Error 1311 source file not found c:\windows\installer\openofficeorg1.cab Verify the file exists and that you can access it.
System info: Win XP Pro, with latest service bulletin (2.0) installed; Dell Laptop, 1GB RAM, 120GB HD with lots of free space.
I've tried all the tricks without success - and when I try to reinstall and earlier version, (e.g. 2.0) it will not install. I get a message stating that the version cannot install because a later version is installed. I've fine-combed the registery (CCleaner and RegGenie) and removed all reference to OpenOffice, rebooted, retried, still get the same message. I am, however able to run OpenOffice portable. If I had to guess, I'd bet there's an onld OpenOffice.msi somewhere in the system. I've looked through all the repositories that I can think of or know about without success. Any help or suggestions would be most appreciated as I'd like to get on with some work but will be happy to troubleshoot as needed.
Regards,

I've read through most of the threads associated with the one response, tried a number of the suggestions _without_ having any success. I've backed out version 2.2, cleaned out the registery traces of OpenOffice and then installed version 1.1. It installs and runs just fine! Attempts to reinstall version 2.0x fail because OpenOffice or Win. seems to think that there's a version later than 2.0x already installed! So...somewhere in one or the other applications, a search is executed to look for a later version. I've done a search throuout the hard drive for any OpenOffice entities but fail to find any. That's probably not the cause of the problem, but I'd happily go back to 2.0x if I could just get it to install!
Other thoughts, ideas or suggestions are certainly welcome and appreciated.

Again, I must stress that the problem seems to be the Microsoft Windows Installer.

Did you try the Windows Installer CleanUp utility?

I could not install 2.2 either - I disabled my antivirus and it installed perfectly.
Hope this helps. |

I've run registery searches, application searches, run several different Win. registery and Win. removal tools all with limited or no success. None of the SW removal or cleaanup tools finds any references to OO2.2. I've spent way too much time going over Windows Web site posts related to the problem! I've disabled virus SW and the only thing that installs is 2.0x Portable or OO 1.xx. I have no doubt that the problem lies within the Win installer rather than with OO2.2 but I'm really out of ideas and rapidly running out of patience. I'd rather use the tools instead I'm spending my time troubleshooting a problem.
I'll keep digging and looking for a solution but I've got other things to do so this may take some time.
Meanwhile if others have ideas or suggestions I'll be happy to review the suggestion and give them a try. Thanks to all that provided ideas, suggestions or posted research locations. Appreciate the tholughts and the help. At least for the moment, it appears this isn't going to be a quick fix.

Try this:
Unpack the installation files, as described in Step B (i) through B (iii) at http://openofficetechnology.com/node/26
Look in the folder where the unpacked files are located. Do you see openofficeorg22.msi, openofficeorg1.cab, and three more cab files numbered 2, 3 and 4?
If so, what happens when you double-click on the msi file? If that fails, try launching the msi with verbose logging:
| Code: | | msiexec /l*vx install.log /i openofficeorg22.msi |
Then search the file install.log for some indication of the error. _________________ OpenOffice Enterprise Deployment & Management

| I had this problem and solved it by pasting the files of "Open Office.org 2.2 Installation Files" (Desktop) in a new folder in C:\Program Files (e.g. "OOffice Installation") and then running the setup from there. |
