|
|
I was wondering what the reason was for placing a "new thread" button at the bottom of every thread, so close to the "reply" button. More often than not in OOOforum, when I want to participate in a given thread, I just click automatically on a buton down there, and after typing up my comments, I find that I am asked to enter a thread title, because I have selected "New Thread." I understand a reason for placing it there--that after reading a particular thread, you might decide to start a related but different topic, requiring its own thread. But is there any way the forum can remove it, or if not, then place it below the "post reply" button, perhaps, with a comment above to the effect that "if you want to discuss a related issue, start your own thread by clicking on the NEW THREAD button."
Just a suggestion. I'm quite pleased with the intelligence and tenor of the replies here. Its just that I find that I do this here at this forum quite a bit, and (almost) never at any other forum. _________________ Paul |

Yep, you're right, that's a bad design to make such different functions so similar in location and appearance.
Unfortunately, there's nothing we can do about it, as the forum has no functioning administrator. |

Interesting. I have already decided not to install MS Office on my new laptop, and go cold turkey (and this time I mean it ). Its really not as bad as I thought it would be--I'm getting to like OOO. So of course this means I'm gonna be coming back here to this forum quite a lot in the next six months, till I figure out exactly how to do whatever I need to do. All of which is to say that this forum is absolutely vital for individual users like me, to migrate to OOO. I've got that thread bookmarked, and I've already onto page 3. It would be a crying shame to see this forum disintegrate, especially because (I"m not speaking here from an administration standpoint, but sheerly from the standpoint of the level of communication among the participants) the amount of quality info relative to hot air/rancor is so much higher than other forums, that this is definitely something worth preserving. _________________ Paul |

Keep visiting us ... but to help afterwards

True. It just made me notice that we haven't seen any ranting thread here for a long time. I've even seen an improvement in the way new users post their questions (even if few search first). _________________ Now on the EN user community forum |

If you are overly concerned, then note my name or email address (andrew@pitonyak.org) and then if this site goes down, send me a personal email and ask me what the status is.
Worst case, i will point you to an emergency backup... _________________ --
