|
|
| When Comodo's Anti-virus is set to scan all files on access, Open Office programs hang (not responding to Windows). While this might not be a coding problem in OO, OO developers are probably in a better position to determine what OO is doing when it goes not responding. How can a request be made for someone to look into this? |

The program is free, so you might get someone to test it if you open an issue. Before doing that, however, I would try a few things myself.
1. did you add OOo to the "safe list" that Comodo runs?
2. Can you start disabling portions of comodo until OOo does not crash so that you know which portion causes the problem?
3. Are you running the latest version of Comodo?
Does Comodo still come with LaunchPad and the other programs that have it labeled as undesirable by some reviewers?
I was disappointed that Comodo was not included in these reviews:

One other follow-up. Try posting to the user's mailing list to see if others use Comodo and if they have a problem. _________________ --

OOo doesn't crash it hangs. I have to terminate OOo with Task Manager.
The problem occurs when CAV is set to scan all file extensions on access. If CAV is set to only scan selected file extensions (default setting) OOo does not hang.
Launch Pad is no longer part of CAV.
I picked this up from a Comodo forum so I know at least one other user of OOo and CAV can cause this problem. |

so what is probably happening is that Ooo attempts to open a file, the virus software hangs OOo based on the way that it grabs the file for checking. You have set something that tells it to ignore file extensions not known to cause a problem or something like that.
Are you able to add OOo to a safe list? _________________ --
