|
|
I've installed OOo 1.0.1 in a multi user env. And now I whant to upgrade to v 1.0.2
One way of doing it would be to login as all the 50 users, remove their OOo 1.01 installation and then either install 1.02 manually or inn a logonscript.
But.. I'm fidling with the Idea of just removing alle the files in the program files folder:
\\server\programfiles\OOo 101, and replacing them with the installed:
\\server\programfiles\OOo 102 files..
(this is the files outputet by running setup.exe -net)
Whold this work? and if so, should I guess it might work when 1.1 is stable.
If this will be a stanard procedure for upgradeing OOo, i may should think about renaming the program files dir to not include the version number
I guess I've explained what I whant to do.. And also given a statement of my situation knowlage, so what I'm really asking for is a few hits on my way.
Its a mixed enviroment with Win 2000 and Win 9x computers.. I've not really bothering with the 9x computers, I may aswell upgrade for their users manually if I find it nesecary.
I'm using linx/samba as a PDC and therby I cant use group policies.. _________________ Sven Tore Iversen

this is what we did on my work
we had
- OOo 641 build
- OOo 1.0
than because of the PDF functions in the new beta (644 build)
we installed OOo (1.1 beta) 644 aswell
we had than 3 versions
we removed 641 from the system.
than about 6 people were complaining about not able to use their OOo anymore.
so we installed beta 1.1 for them
and than you can upgrade 1 by 1
so they can use new features _________________ If you jump to the otherside of the galaxy,

Thanks...
I'm actually running different versions already (eng/no locale)
But I'd really hate to upgrade every user manually.
It would work since it can be done over time, and only upgrade the 15 prioritised users first.

You should give it a try and report back the results. The only problem is the risk of strange bugs. If there's a slight change in a configuration file between 1.0.2 and 1.0.1, OOo may seem to work but may break when you least expect it. |
