Can I get a straight answer out of someone who actually knows what they're talking about?
Does Open Office 2.3 support Office 2007 file formats such as DOCX?
TIA.

I've already tried it. It works under SuSe 10.3 with Open Office 2.0.?. I will report here after I try it on Windows XP

Unfortunately I've run into the same problem others have mentioned.
Following the directions found by following the link I was peppered with errors while installing the converter extension.
I've friends who also need this that are not multi-os or imprisioned behind the iron window.
If I learn more I will post here. Will others too please. _________________ Have Computer

It is odd that things like NeoOffice will support DOCX format but OpenOffice does not. I thought that NeoOffice code was derivative of OpenOffice.
WTF?
I would say the absolute main thing OO needs to do right now is read Office 2007 docs. All other feature development can wait.

NeoOffice includes bleeding-edge code that's not ready for prime time. Also, NeoOffice includes code that the mainstream OpenOffice.org won't include for legal reasons. It's nice to have the choices, though.

Too bad you don't own many shares of Sun Microsystems. _________________ <signature>

| This has probably been posted before: Like NeoOffice, Novell's version of OpenOffice.org (downloadable here: http://go-oo.org/) can open .docx documents. At least with simpler documents my version of go-OO (on Windows XP) works flawlessly. |

Does anyone have any info on the latest version of OO?
Just wondering if it truly will read and write MS Office 2007 documents.
Thanks for all the info - I'm new to open source and I'm getting more sold on it every day! |

As discussed in this thread, the current version of OOo, does not read OpenXML. _________________ Arch Linux

Oh, no...
I received a .docx file from a customer but I can't open it with OpenOffice.org
The Novell version is Linux-only and I use Windows
I'll have to get in touch with my customer to ask him to send in another format in the meantime. _________________ Charles.

Sorry to get on to this very late but I strongly disagree with this statement. Nuff said. _________________ Arch Linux

Thanks. I wasn't on the same site, I was on go-oo.org
I see this version is $50... Is there a free implementation? _________________ Charles.
