in linux platform
#mount -t msdos /mnt/floppy
#cd /mnt/floppy
#ls
nothing is displaying at the time of giving ls command

Two things --
  1. What does this have to do with opening a .doc file?
  2. Sounds like your floppy might be empty.

Sorry I can't help much more, but your question seems more like it belongs on a Linux user group list... Question
