error bars

I'm trying to make a chart something like this:

where it shows the mean and the standard deviation.
I don't need the scatter dots.

I can get a chart with the scatter dots in OO Calc, but i don't see how to do the mean and s.d.

Error bars are not a strength of OOo.

You can try to use Gnumeric ( http://www.gnome.org/projects/gnumeric/ ). Maybe it's capable to make your plots.
I recommend for most scientific plots R ( http://www.r-project.org/ ) or Gnuplot ( http://www.gnuplot.info/ ). Not very handy but very powerful.

I guess i didnt mention that I'm on linux, so that eliminates a couple suggestions.
I've already tried Gnumerics...it has some problems.

Try R ( http://www.r-project.org/ ) and gnuplot ( http://www.gnuplot.info/ ). Both run also on Linux.

This is an example for gnuplot. There are error bars for x (and y, I am aware that your plot is not a xy-plot). I think this is what you are looking for. I wouldn't be surprised if your example was also created with gnuplot (or R). Wink

The "error bars in charts" feature 366 (134 votes) is implemented for OOo 3.0 and is ready for testing now. Please try to break it and report any bugs.
