In Excel you can import a txt file so that it opens as a spreadsheet. It asks you where you want the column breaks ect.
Everytime I try this in Calc, it opens up the world processor!
How can I do this import?
I am new to this posting stuff, so excuse me if I an not doing it correctly! |

Try renaming the file as "filename.CSV" instead of "filename.txt".

Call "File" > "Open..." and use the appropriate File type "TextCSV (*.csv;*.txt;*.xls)" from the list. |

Changing it to a CSV file worked! Thank you.
Using open, and selecting the txt file type did not work, it still opened up the Writer.
Thanks to both of you for your suggestions! |

I suggested the usage of the File type "Text CSV (*.csv;*.txt;*.xls)" (which opens in OOo Calc, because it is an OOo Calc Import Filter) and not the File type "Text (*.txt)" (which opens in OOo Writer, because it is an OOo Writer Import Filter). |
