Hello!
I just installed OO for the first time, and I don't have MSoffice on my computer. Windows asociates my old DOC files to OOwriter, but when I double click them - nothing happens. I try to do "open with" and choose "swriter" and still - nothing happens. new DOC files or OO files created by OO writer do not have this problem. I'm using version 2.2.
thanks for your help!

Two things
1. What happens if you open OpenOffice.org Writer, click File, click Open, and open the "old doc" files this way
2. Can you upgrade to the OOo latest version (currently 2.4)? _________________ <signature>

Is the file on a network? If not, I suspect your file associations are corrupt. One heavy-handed solution is the nuclear removal procedure. Don't use the Installup Utility. Don't reset your profile, but do use a registry cleaner like CCleaner.
If you don't like the "nuclear procedure," then manually delete your file associations and recreate them. _________________ <signature>
