|

I'm getting an error 1935 when trying to install OpenOffice. I've tried versions 2.4 & 2.3.1. I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit and had OpenOffice running prior to recent reinstall.
I've searched the forums to solutions to this error and found several suggestions, all of which I've tried. I've tried disabling Anti-Virus software and Windows Firewall, I've tried uninstalling .NET and using Aaron Stebner's cleanup tool. I've tried setting the install folder permissions to full control for "Everyone".
That being said I'm out of ideas and can't find any others in the forums. Please help. Thanks. |

Did you try this?
http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=962
Also, did you search Google across the whole Internet for the message? . Because these errors are caused by the Windows Installer designed by Microsoft, you may find solutions describing non-OpenOffice.org applications.
Let me know... _________________ <signature>

I did try renaming the mscoree.dll file as suggested in the other post. However I was unable to rename the file, even in Safe Mode, as it is a protected system file.
As far as searching the internet for solutions, I have done that as well, the problem is the 1935 error is so generic that there are thousands of different solutions for thousands of different applications.
I'm thinking I may have a .NET problem and that may be whats causing OpenOffice not to install, but I really don't know how to check .NET. I also thought I'd try a repair install of Vista but sadly that is not an option on the DVD when you boot up.
Any other suggestions? |

Alright I finally got OpenOffice installed and thought I'd post here in case anyone else was having the same problem. Turns out it was a .NET problem. Being that I'm on Vista I couldn't uninstall/reinstall .NET so I had to update it to .NET 3.5. This update was failing too and I had to run the following two commands in the command prompt (Start > All Programs > Accessories > Right-Click Command Prompt and click Run as Administrator):
sfc /scannow
%windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\ngen.exe update
That let me install the .NET 3.5 update and then I was able to install OpenOffice 2.4. Thanks for the help and hope this saves someone from three days of scouring the internet as I had to do. |

Hi, and thanx for your tips.
I'm having the same troubles you met with some months ago, trying to install OO. Following your advice I've been trying to update .Net to 3.5, but couldn't. Maybe there's something I did not do well at the end: I first tried to install the udpate, it failed, then I opened the command prompt, and ran the sfc / scannow. It didn't find any problem so I then asked %windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\ngen.exe update
there it said that the command path was invalid. Is there something I'm doing wrong?
Thanx in advance for your answer.
