|
|
I'm suddenly having the same problem as Donny Bahama http://www.oooforum.org/forum/viewtopic.phtml?p=284247 experienced although I've done many Mail Merges before: When I create a new Mail Merge, I can choose an ODS file. But when I try to select a table of the spreadsheet, nothing is displayed. I tested it with XLS and CSV files as well, nothing worked, I couldn't access any data sources. It seems like all database connections are broken. Interestingly, hitting F4 (database source browser) is not working as well.
Does anybody know how to repair this?
I'm using OOo 2.4.0 on an Ubuntu Hardy Heron. |

At the risk of taking this off of the unanswered list, I have the identical problem, also with OOo 2.4.0 on Ubuntu 8.04.
I see that the original post has been here for a while. Hopefully someone will know the answer by now.

It is necessary for any datasource you wish to use to be registered before OO will recognize it. Go to any OO module and
Tools
Options
OpenOffice.org Base
Databases
and add your database to the list.
It should then be recognized as a datasource by all modules.
Good luck. |

Wandering:
It is there, and it is registered. It still does not show up when I press F4. In fact, not even the default ones show up!
This is what is confusing me. I have used this document and this database before. Now, with an install of OOo 2.4 (I was using 2.3 before) pressing the F4 key does absolutely zip, and "View" menu item has no entry for "datasources".
Either there is a problem with OOo 2.4, or the Ubuntu version has a problem. I have not found out which yet.

OK, seems the problem lies with OOo 2.4. A friend has the same problem with the version of OOo 2.4 packaged with OpenSuSE. He also advises that the developers are not likely to fix it, as they are working on the release of version 3.0.
If you have 2.4 and are having problems, go back to 2.3.

| Try the release available directly from http://download.openoffice.org/index.html instead of the Linux customized versions. I'm using V2.4 from this source on Windows and I don't see your problem. |

2.4 runs fine under Vista here without your problem. I am using it under Ubuntu with similar results. Could be your distribution.
There is a toolbar tool near top right that should open all datasources, and let you attach the one you wish to your document. Perhaps that will work for you.
Good luck. |
