Hi!
I'm trying to install the latest OpenOffice on a Windows 98SE machine. I've downloaded the zip file and unzipped it to the appropriate directory.
But when I run SETUP.EXE, I get this message:

Error starting program
The SVT645MI.DLL file is linked to missing export OLEAUT32.DLL:189

By the way, this is a fresh computer: it's a Compaq Presario laptop on which I just yesterday ran the complete autorestore CD to reset it to factory defaults, and I've installed no other new software yet.
Any ideas?

Try running Windows Update. I seem to recall that even loading MS Office onto an older version of Windows will complain about that DLL missing, but that the MS software will then just install it for you. If Windows Update doesn't do it, I'd suggest checking out Microsoft's site, and if you can't find it there, then try googling for the file name and seeing if you can find it for download.

I've substitued oleaut32.dll with an original - from mswin98se cd-rom - but I've again that error !?
have anyone another solution ?

Hy! I'd some problems on OLEAUT32.DLL and SVT645MI.DLL during the install procedure on Win98 and Win98SE PC. I've resolved any problem after the setup of DCOM for Win98 founded on http://www.microsoft.com
