PostPosted: Mon Apr 12, 2004 2:56 am    Post subject: Print layout.................? Reply with quote

I seem to be having probs with finding out how to set the print range up.

I am trying to make a list of my music collection, which will be about 35 pages and i want it to print in a certain way......
i want it to print with 4 boxes on each single page so its easy to read. i have tried reading the help oppions but dont seem to get anywhere with it.
its pretty hard to explain the layout here so if anyone thinks they maybe able to help then let me know and i will send a document to u that shows the exact layout i want to do. i know it can be done i just cant figure it out for myself.

Hope someone can help.......?

I guess I can take a look at it. Otherwise, if you send a picture, I can upload it to my server, so people can see what you are getting at.

Do you mean 'print 4 pages onto one sheet of paper? For that, look at www.fineprint.com for their "Fineprint' program ...and I really don't have any connection to that software, people. It's just damned good and useful.

[The stuff you need to organise printing is in three places:

1.Select the cells
Format>Page>page and Sheet give lots of options

2.View>Page break review

3.File<page preview

"Guess who" gives "pages per sheet" as an option. But I don't see that in OOo's Writer. It would be useful. The reason I keep mentioning the other option is that it does a really excellent job on tiny print and graphics, up to 8 pages per sheet. In combination with their PDF factory it does good work where other pograms such as Adobe, combined with very small print in a wordprocessor have failed ...at least in some instances that were important for me. It's main use that I can see is for archiving ...sort of like a microfische.

found it!
From the HELP
Quote:
Printing Multiple Pages on One Sheet

In Page Preview mode, you have the option to print multiple pages on one sheet.
1.Choose File - Page Preview.
2.Do one of the following:

To print two pages side by side on the same page, click the Page Preview: Two Pages icon on the Object Bar.

( Its an icon with four small pages and its next to the zoom + icon)

To print multiple pages on the same page, click the Print options page view icon on the Object Bar and set the options that you want.

Ok, it's neat, and thanks. However, it doesn't fit to page. I tried 8 pages per sheet: 2 rows, 4 columns, and then 4 rows, 2 columns. I got only half a sheet to print the 8 pages. Also, for some reason the print was an almost invisible grey rather than a solid black.

The program mentioned fills the sheet with the pages, and does a really credible job of emulating fonts and images. It is limited to number of pages as multiples of 2, but I'd swap that for the incredible quality.
