OFFICE 2007 .DOCX FILES

Does anyone know how to open these .docx files that 2007 emits, I have XP SP3 and OO 2.41, I can do it via a converter in OFFICE 2003 but would prefer to open directly

This has been asked quite a lot.
OpenOffice 2.4.1 cannot open .docx files, but the current build of go-oo.org (http://go-oo.org), which is a good and stable OpenOffice fork, can. The beta of OpenOffice.org 3.0 also can handle .docx files.

For better quality, use odf-converter-integrator to convert .docx files with OpenOffice.org. Last I checked, it has better quality than go-ooo or OOo 3.0 beta.

Another choice is zamzar's docx converter (an online service).
