|
|
I want to pull off a Lycoris/Luxuriosity thing.
But for good, not for seemingly unethical. (although legal)
How do I make a custom version of OOo that does/contains the following:
* Has templates that I want(that I have made) pre-installed
* Default settings other thatn the OOo release
(Menu fonts different, simplified toolbar etc.)
* Custom graphics
(OpenOffice.org, brought to you by Chemeketa Community College)
I looked over the installation and gathered how to do the graphics, but how about having them templates and settings pre-configured? I DL'ed the SDK and felt dense real quick. I was hoping for something more along the lines of an Admin Kit for deployment.
At our college I work with a group that distributes a "IT CD" full of student resources, good stuff about the school and a ton of freeware and open-source software. At a community college, being able to empower the students with OOo has very rewarding. And OOo is our crown jewel. What's more, we've been getting more and more requests for templates and other suggestions from our students.
And yes, we do charge for the CD. It costs (US$)3.99. It covers the cost of the CD.
(Barely,We press them in-house) I know I've not gotten rich off it.
Thanks in advance for being kind to the newbie.

Are you able to find where the /user folder is stored in the distribution? Most of the changes you mentioned are saved in a user's /user directory, so you could manipulation your custom distribution by modifying that. _________________ Don "Freiheit" Eitner |

In the two distros I have, (1.1 rc2, 1.1.1) both lack this "user" folder you mention.
(At least on the inherently visible level.) Do I need to locate a different distribution or is this folder accesible in one of the morsels inside the OOo folder?
Or are you referring to the /user that is built in the registry? Or am I in too deep?
Thanks _________________ ____________________

Well upon installation your OpenOffice.org1.1.1 folder should have, among others, a folder called User. In this are stored such things as document templates, custom user settings, etc.
But as to how one finds this within the install files, I don't know. It could be compressed into an archive with any dozens of other files and folders or it could be constructed on-the-fly during the installation process. I can't say for sure which. _________________ Don "Freiheit" Eitner |

Alrighty then, I keep getting the impression that I may have to do a build just to get a some custmized templates and features pre-set.
I've been to the installation.openoffice.org and got this feeling. All I want to do is add content, not redefine the parameters of UNO, API or TTFN
Am I right ion this? If not, which "f_xxx" file has the secret folder that I can augment?
Or should I just keep digging? _________________ ____________________
