|
|
Hi, I was having some problems trying to change the outline numbering format of the table of contents. To change the format, I right click on the TOC and select the Edit Index/Table menu. I then selected the outline button, set the Number to "1, 2, 3" for level 1 under the numbering tab and the Minimum space numbering <-> text to 0.30cm under the positioning tab. Apparently these settings did not affect format of the TOC but instead the headings of the document content other than the TOC. Could someone advise me on this?

The idea is that the index shows the headings from the document exactly as the appear in the document (regarding the numbering).
I think that your index was not updated. Click somewhere in the table, right-click it and select UPDATE INDEX.
I am not to sure about when and how Writer updates indexes... or how often. I had some trouble with it, I really hope it is updated before you print... |

| Hi Curtz, I tried the Update Index/Table but the outline numbering format of TOC still would not change. Btw, I have no problem with the numbering, I only have problem with the formatting of the numbering. |

Oh, I understand!
Read this thread:

Read the intire thread, it took some time before I found a quick fix that worked:
| Quote: | | A really QUICK way to get around this problem is to define the seperator AFTER as '. ' (a dot and a single space) or just a single space (for each heading, ZzZZ) |
