I have already downloaded the impressive clipart gallery linked to in this thread:

http://www.oooforum.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7392

I was wondering if there was another one available for downloading. Even with DSL, it is rather cumbersome having to surf to different clipart sites, and then navigate to all the sections and pages that I am looking for. I would love to have it "pre-organized."

Does anyone know of any other free clipart files that can be downloaded?

Well, there is a project, Open ClipArt Project, that is aimid to do what you asking for...
But unfortunately it's in very early stage...

You can look at:
http://www.openclipart.org/

For now, it's best to contact the project participants via the mailing lists, because the site doesn't contain yet all the interesting things I expect to see from that project.

After you contact, ask for Nicu's gallery links...

Answer closer to the subject:
There is NO project that has everything ready yet, but we are creating one.

Unfortunately the site freezes the open page (fortunately not the whole machine) as soon as I get to the point when I would download anything.
Question: why not different download version fot the different OS's?

Thanks for the link.I could download stuff all right, but I just couldn't open up .svg files. Other files (.tgz) looked like they are for linux. Anyways, yeah you are right, its a recent site, and I've definitely got it in my bookmarks. Thanks for the link.

Sort of :-/ .tgz files are tarred/gzipped files, which is common on Unix/Linux. However, as the tar & gzip formats are open, people have written Windows software to create/open .tgz files. I use 7-zip (http://www.7-zip.org/), which can handle most compressed file formats, including 7z, ZIP, CAB, RAR, ARJ, GZIP, BZIP2, TAR, CPIO, RPM and DEB.

7-zip is open-source and free to download.

I've just downloaded one of the .tgz files, and discovered that it is full of .svg files! So you won't get far until you can find some software to deal with .svg files Confused

However, help is at hand. .svg files are Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) images. SVG is an open document format. The W3C has a page listing software that can view/edit/convert SVG files. You can find it at:
http://www.w3.org/Graphics/SVG/SVG-Implementations

Some of it is open source, some of it isn't. Some of it is free to download, some is commercial. There's software for a variety of platforms, so hopefully you should find something to do what you need.

yep, 56 votes, but nobody to do the task.... Sad

The other route I suggest everyone to go for now, is
a) Join the clipart project (the hard way)
b) Try the OpenCD in-house develped installer (alpha version) for OOo: (that's the easy way)

http://ftp.sunsite.dk/projects/TheOpenCD/pub/resources/enhancedclipart-installer.exe

You can choose a, b, none or both ways.

http://www.clipserver.de/
Column along left side. The page is in german with a lot of clipart.

Is there an option in OO that allows direct Drag&Drop between wiewer or webpage and OO document? Currently i get a link ?

Using OO on WIn XP I drop on desktop and then insert in OO document.
