When exchanging documents between Mac OS MS Word and OOO Writer, the images turn into black rectangles. I don't remember seeing this in versions prior to 2.2.
Anyone know a work around?
Thanks! |

I've had half an image turn black [ i.e. two squares on top of each other instead of one large rectangle, the top squae being black, the lower being the lower part of the image ], but was OK when I changed form JPG to BMP. No idea why though. |

I have the same problem with OpenOffice 2.2.1 on Linux. I copy an image from Adobe Reader or KPDF and when I paste it it's black.
If I paste it into Gimp it works, so I think it's a problem in OOo.
I tried it on Windows with OO 2.0 and it does it well. |

I think none of those is exactly the same problem as this one.
They are about rotated pictures, inserting instead of pasting, another one seems more related to MacOS and other one is about DOC files, so I don't think they are caused by the same bug as this one. |

Then send me the document, and I'll file a bug report. If you want to make it more private, it just needs the image. Either send me a PM to get my email address, or host the file on a service like sendmefile.com or http://www.mediafire.com/ _________________ <signature>

Don't know if anyone is still monitoring this thread for answers, but I had a problem yesterday when I had a University assignment typed up in OOo Writer which had to be openable in Word for the lecturer to mark; so obviously needed to be completely compatible with Word. When I finished the assignment, I saved it as Microsoft Word .doc format and went into Word to make sure it opened correctly. It was fine, but the inserted jpeg images had changed to black rectangles. But this was in Word - the images shown in Writer were fine.
In the end, I got hold of the original jpeg files and inserted them while still in Word, then resaved. They opened up fine in OOo, and again in Word, so that cured that problem - kinda. But it still doesn't explain why it happened, unless inserting a jpeg into OOo "changes" it in some way so that it ceases to be viewable in Word. That cannot be the reason on its own, or no jpegs would be viewable - and that isn't the case, just these two in my document, so perhaps I did something to them after they were inserted that screwed them up for Word. I did have to position, resize and crop them (in OOo).
Strangely enough, I could still view the original jpegs fine in Windows Picture Viewer, but NOT in Microsoft Picture Manager. |
