To use Hebrew as 2nd language with English, what do I need to download to be able to reverse direction for a line, paragraph or whole file?
I need to stress that ENGLISH is my main language of use.
Many thanks for your assistance. |

Tools>Options>Language Settings>Languages
Enable for Complex Text Layout (CTL) and set default language for CTL to Hebrew.
On the Formatting toolbar of the main OpenOffice GUI click the paragraph mark ΒΆ with the arrow pointing left.
You will also need to be able to switch your keyboard to Hebrew and have a font with the Hebrew characters. Regarding fonts see:

Robert,
Many thanks for your quick reply; I had my daughter follow your directions via phone and it worked for her.
Might you advise what kind of Hebrew fonts are usable? I have some True Type and Adobe fonts but don't know which can be used with OO Write.
If the above fonts cannot be used, may I get Hebrew fonts from the Open Office Hebrew version, and how?
Best regards,
Jack |

Robert,
From what you advise, I see we already have quite a few Hebrew fonts accessible as TTF's on our drives that came with XP.
Using Fontographer or another mapping utility, I can now create customized fonts. For example, a=aleph, b=beis, g=gimmel, etc.
Many thanks for your assistance.; it's a real pleasure to get good help when it's needed.
Best regards,
Jack |
