Cannot sum colums in a row

I am trying to sum several colums in a row. My formula reads :
=sum(a4:af4).
However, all I get is "0" for each sum. Any ideas?

The only thing I can think of is that the numbers in row 4 are interpreted as text by Calc. This happens when you use wrong decimal separator character (period instead of comma, or vice versa), which is common when copying from other sources or importing CSV files. It also sometimes happens when you import an MS Excel file (because Excel will try to interpret the string content as a number, so the calculation will work in that application).

Try to manually overwrite one cell in the range with a number, and see if that propagates to your sum.
