The option not to wrap text - not around an image but just plain text - is that available?
Like in Wordpad under options you can untick wrap or non-wrap.
I want to create some unwrapped files for a database and can knock out the line breaks by viewing non printing characters and using regular expression $ but the wrapped text is not affected.
Can anyone help pls - I know I can paste into wordpad and back into OO but just would prefer to stay in same prog.
thanks |

Hello
It is not clear if I understand you correct but I think this can help you.
select the picture :Use the right mouse button, click
select no wrap
It is a property of the image and not of the text.
I hope this helps you

| Thanks but there are no images involved - I just want to format plain tax so it is unwrapped and does not wrap automatically. i.e. I want one long line of text. |

Hello
I think that OOo writer is not made for that purpose, so I think it is not possible. Maybe if you make a great page you can make longer lines. I have alway a text editor as notepad open. This message I do write in notepad. More precise in KWrite what is a linux equivalent

The question remains, how do you want to save the result? as an ODT file? as plain text? ... If wanting plain text, I'd use a plain text editor.

| I have just dscovered that the end of line symbol is \n so a search and replace with nothing will create an unwrapped document. |

Just make sure that your document's length doesn't exceed 64 K characters, or you will lose data by removing all paragraph endings. _________________ LibreOffice 3.6.3; OOo 3.4.1 on Windows Vista
