Using only a custom dictionary in Open Office?

I'm trying to spell check a database using a custom dictionary for scientific nomenclature. I want to disable the standard dictionary but even when I have it disabled it will still say that actual words are spelled correctly. I want it to say that something like the word "stump" is spelled wrong while "Tettigoniidae" is spelled correctly. The problem is that some of the scientific names if spelled incorrectly could match real words. So far the only way I've been able to do this is by switching the language to french or basque, but this could possibly cause different words to get through. Does anyone know of a better way to do this?

One way to do it would be by installing a fake dictionary without any entries for a language that you're sure you won't ever need. Set the language for all text to that language and you're set. Another way would be to generate a (sorted) list with all words occurring in the text. You can then work your way through that and check for errors. Misspellings like "Tettigonidae" will hit you sooner if you see them close to the correctly spelled word.
