This thread is to replace the original, which I deleted by accident
If you see a spam post, or a post which you suspect to be spam, please reply to it and include "spamspamspam" in your reply.
The moderators will periodically search for the term "spamspamspam", and delete any that are positively identified as spam.

Instead of replying with sp*****, it may be better to use a mechanism used by some other forums.
A REPORT button woud be included with each post.
If SOMEBODY believes the post to be spam, clicking on that button should send a notification of the post and identification of the SOMEBODY reporting the post. |

I have edited your post by substituting asterisks for letters which I deleted. Please do NOT use that term unless tagging spam because the moderators search for that term in order to locate spam which has been tagged. Your post showed up as a false tag.
The report mechanism can only be implemented by the administrator. If you look at the first post of this thread, you will see that such action is, for all practical purposes, unavailable. _________________ search forum by month |

Now that we have the opportunity for firmer action than merely deleting spam posts, I think we should revise this practice. If someone persists in spamming, I don't want to follow that person around the various boards cleaning up after them indefinitely. I'd like a board to which we can move offending posts for strong action by the administrator against the posters. _________________ search forum by month |

It is really strange because many forums already use REPORT button, which help against SPAM, but this forum doesn’t use REPORT button. _________________ VB.NET programmer, My name is Sam, visit my site |

@Beth, Kathryn and mr. Bond:
Could you please read the thread you're replying to. (That would be this one, with all the postings above yours.)
In several posts above, that report button you're chatting about has been mentioned.
The short explanation: we're on phpBB2 which doesn't have the report functionality, and an upgrade is not likely to happen.
The long explanation: Another thread in this forum
Both the long and the short can be found in posts above.
Also, a sticky topic is made sticky because someone deemed it to be information of general and lasting interest to all users. Please, keep idle chat messages out of those stickies.
