Cross Hair ?Macro?

I'm creating a spreadsheet which has several sheets, all containing hundreds of rows and columns. I'm designing this for data entry personnel and am trying to make it as user friendly as possible. I will be showing them how to hide historical information in certain columns and rows, but I was hoping to take it a step further.

Is there a way (and I'm sure there is) to create some sort of cross hair effect, basically hilighting all cells in a row to the left of the current cell in addition to all cells in the column above the current cell......thanks in advance
