| Do I need a version of microsoft office to use open office. At present I have microsoft office 97 as well as a version of open office. To use word I have to open microsoft word and the saved files are stored on the open office. Office 97 is failing to respond therefore I can not write any letters, I click on the open office icon showing a blank page that leads me to a microsoft page. [/b] |

I doubt this. I suspect that you have associated Word files wlth OOo, that means that OOo will open them and that the icons look the same. Look at the file extensions Word > doc OOo > odt.
You can change the file assciation, at least in XP by right clicking the file and following the Open with link. _________________ jrkrideau
